Types and Working Principles of Aluminum Extrusion Machines

01-10-2024

Aluminum extrusion machines, such as metal extrusion equipment, can be classified into hydraulic and mechanical types based on their driving method and functionality. Hydraulic extrusion machines, like the two-rod aluminum extruder, use a hydraulic system to apply immense pressure, pushing heated aluminum through a mold. They are widely used in large-scale operations such as the aluminum profile production line. Mechanical extrusion machines are also available, especially for processing specific lightweight aluminum profiles.

Extrusion methods can be divided into forward and backward extrusion, applicable in different systems, such as copper and copper alloy extruders. Forward extrusion is used when the aluminum billet and extrusion direction are aligned, whereas backward extrusion is used when they are opposite, reducing friction and improving surface smoothness in extruded aluminum systems.

Temperature and speed control are critical in processes like the 660T and 2200T aluminum extrusion line. Overheating may cause surface defects, while insufficient heating can reduce material flowability. Similarly, extrusion speed must be balanced; too fast could cause cracks, while too slow reduces production efficiency. Thus, for systems like the aluminum extruded section production, precise control is vital to ensure product quality.
